Pathology + Functional Testing

We are dedicated to providing comprehensive care that addresses the root causes of health concerns. As part of our commitment to your well-being, we offer pathology and functional testing to uncover underlying imbalances and optimise your health journey.

These tests, tailored to your individual needs, provide invaluable insights into your body's functioning, revealing any dysfunctions, imbalances, deficiencies, or overgrowths that may be affecting your health on a deeper level.

During your consultation, we may recommend various functional tests, including:

  • Blood tests (for assessing general health markers like iron, B12, folate, zinc, copper, glucose, insulin, thyroid function, liver and kidney function, and hormones)

  • Saliva tests (for assessing female hormones, male hormones, cortisol and other stress hormones)

  • Stool tests (for comprehensive gut microbiome mapping, screening for gut hyper-permeability (‘leaky gut’), parasites, bacterial infections, etc)

  • Swabs (for detailed vaginal or oral microbiome analysis)

  • Urine tests (for assessing thyroid cofactors, UTIs, mycotoxins, screening for genetic conditions such as pyrrole disorder, etc)

  • Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (for analysis of status of nutrients, minerals, heavy metals and toxins)

  • Genetic testing (screening for MTHFR, and assessing function of pathways such as methylation, neurotransmitter production and detoxification)

By incorporating these tests into your consultation, we aim to provide personalised insights and tailored recommendations to support your journey toward optimal health. Feel free to inquire about these additional services during your consultation or contact us for more information.

Pricing

Please be aware that pricing for tests can vary depending on their type, typically ranging from $50 to $500, which you’ll pay directly to the laboratory. These costs are generally not rebatable and will be discussed with you before any testing is ordered.

Process

If functional testing is recommended during your consultation, Melanie will provide you with a referral to the appropriate testing laboratory. Depending on the type of test required, you may visit your local pathology centre (i.e. blood and urine analysis), or be provided with a testing kit and detailed instructions to conveniently complete at home (i.e. stool, saliva, swabs & HTMA). The results will then be sent to Melanie for evaluation, and then discussed during your next consultation.
